Acrylic Paint
My brand The Green Lady, encompassing my portfolio of pieces, was inspired by what I describe as, “emotions through color.”
In my work I gravitate towards using dramatic bold lines to express femininity in my combinations of clay moldings and acrylic paintings. I use self-taught techniques in the brush strokes and individual artistry in the inspiration of the piece’s construction. At first glance the portraits relay a mixture of bright exaggerated colors, which are overlaid with differing tones and emotions upon further examination.
All art is an avenue of interpretation for anyone who interacts with it. Many pieces you will see from The Green Lady collection have underlying images and messages when taking a deeper look. As I like to refer to them as, “a piece within a piece.” Each original hand-crafted painting, displays a thematic representation of feminine subjects and reoccurring color palettes. These pieces encompass the appreciation of women, color, and perspective. This catalog of paintings is attributed and derived from the female point of view. This idea tends to dominate the overall direction of the piece and the collection it belongs to. Notice in many of the primary subjects of the pieces, the drama in the lines and bold curves of the women, are shaped to push the normal expectation of the female form.
The paintings are plain yet intricate, daring yet ordinary.
I use a variety of materials, incorporating specific variations of color and pliable clay moldings onto the canvas. This in my opinion provides depth in patterns and tactile sensory for viewers. For me personally this makes the paintings engaging in both a visual and physical way to experience the art.
